This week my goals group was asked which books that we read this year would we put in a time capsule. I had to think hard because I got lazy and stopped keeping track of the books I read. Made it to February before jumping ship. : (
Here are the books I’d put in a time capsule in no particutlar order:
1. Save the Cat! by Blake Snyder. I love the straightforward approach to plotting and the you-can-do this tone of the book.
2. The Art of Plotting by Linda J. Cowgill. I’ve had several Aha! moments while reading this the book. The biggest one being, a complicated plot doesn’t make a story better.
3.101 Habits of Highly Successful Screenwriters by Karl Iglesias. This is packed with lots of great advice that can be applied to writing and life.
4. Natural Born Killers by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This was a fun read that I couldn’t put down (I was late to the bus stop a couple of days because I wouldn’t stop reading). It also reminded why I enjoyed writing romanitic comedy.
What book would you put in a 2011 time capsule and why?
I wish you a Merry and safe Christmas!
