I’ve been working on my goals since the middle of December and am done fiddling with them for now. I posted them on my goals page. In this post, I’ll expound on each a bit.
Increase Hip Flexibility
For some reason my left hip has gotten super tight over the last year. I’ll be doing yoga and stretching exercises to help loosen it up.
Participate in a 5k Fun Run
My oldest daughter and I have done a fun run for the last three years. We always have a good time and come home covered in the colors of the rainbow. I’ll be keeping an eye out for fun runs coming to town this year.
Have DNA Tested for Ancestry
This has been on my goals list for several years. I’m curious to know my genetic make up. My deadline for this is by my birthday, which is in May 19.
Participate in Shoe Box Project
After Thanksgiving, my neighbor’s church sends off donated shoe boxes filled with goodies to children around the world. And every year, I’m too late to participate. Not this year. I will donate boxes. I’ve already started gathering stuff to include in the boxes.
Plant: Potatoes, Carrots , Ginger, and Pumpkins
I want to grow potatoes in bags and in the ground. I want to do the same with carrots. I’m also hoping to redeem myself with ginger this year. I won’t share how many sprouting pieces I’ve killed. The pumpkins, if the crows don’t eat them, will be for the chickens.
Go to a Concert
The last concert I went to was One Direction. I took my oldest daughter and her friend. So I think I’m due to attend a concert of my choosing.
Do 500 Workouts From My Pinterest Fitness Boards
I’ve got a jabillion workouts pinned and they’re not doing me any good sitting on my boards collecting virtual dust so I’m going to do some of them. I can stay active during the year, avoid workout boredom, and improve my health all the same time. I created a Pinterest board to log the workouts I’ve done.
Write Something for Fun
I stopped writing last year because writing had become a chore and I wasn’t being true myself (and that had a lot to do with me not having a clear vision). Towards the end of the year, various plot bunnies began harassing me. I suppose they missed me. I’m not sure what I’m going to write. I was thinking about a screenplay or something like a Kdrama. Or rework an old idea. I’m going to give myself until January 31 to decide.
I started learning the Korean alphabet last year and was making good progress until I got tripped by the busy stick. I knew just enough letters and sounds to fake like I could read Korean. Now I want to be legit (too legit to quit, hey, hey– sorry I couldn’t resist).
Financial Savings Goal
PURGE! (aka Simplify)
My family and I have a lot of stuff we don’t use or need so I’ll be finding proper homes for these items. I started purging the garage before Christmas. I freed up space and finally donated a ton of stuff I’d been holding onto for way to long. I’m going to pace myself so I don’t burn out by March.
Post Three Video Blogs
Last year, I wanted to do a scope on Periscope but I talked myself out of it (okay, chickened out) for various reasons. I think starting with video blogs will help me get comfortable and practice being on the other side of the camera.
Increase Spanish Fluency
For a short while last year, I flip-flopped between learning Spanish and Italian. For a hot minute I was learning both at the same time, then I read in a few places that it’s better to learn two languages that different. It’s easier to separate them and reduces confusion. For example, me learning Korean and Spanish. Spanish wins the duel with Italian because I already know some of the language and can limp my way through a conversation that’s in present tense. Plus, we have tons of study material from when The Winemaker took Spanish in college.
This involves taking care of my health (doc visits and taking vitamins), eating clean-ish (there some foods I can’t break up with), resting my body and mind, making time for prayer and devotion, and taking better care of my skin and hair.
