I had some leftover nubs of ginger after planted the pieces that were budding. I was going to make some ginger tea with them, but I didn’t have enough time. So I decided to make some ginger extract. I figured the process would be similar to how vanilla extract is made– vanilla beans in vodka.
First, I gathered my main supplies. Ginger nubs, vodka, and a clean jar.
Next, I put the peeled and sliced ginger into a pint-size mason jar and filled it with vodka.
I screwed the lid on, shook the jar a bit, and BAM!– done.
I’ll probably let it sit for at least a month and shake it around every so often. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
