I snagged these movies cards from some Blockbuster Video Stores that were going out of business. I knew they had crafty potential, but didn’t know in what way. So I stuck them in the back of my closet and waited for a visit from a craft bunny. A bunny came after I attended a picnic where the hosts gave out fans so attendees could stay cool.
1. I removed the handles from the picnic fans.
2. I gathered my supplies next.
3. I drew a line on the handle so I’d know where to stop the glue and to help me position the handle on the movie card. I squeezed a line of glue on the stick, then used a popsicle stick to spread it.
4. I placed the movie card on the stick and pressed them togetherfor a minute. I didn’t have any textbooks nearby (I was working in the garage) so I grabbed some bottles of propane to put on rest on the fans. I let them sit like that for several hours.
First group of completed fans.
So while I was making the Prom Movie and Ramen Girl fans, I got the idea to do a double-sided fan and to paint the fan handles.
Be fanned by Thor and Captain America.
The cards shifted while the weight was on them, causing the sides to not be aligned. I should have used rubber bands or binder clips to keep the move cards in place.
Finished painted handle fans.
Here are all the fans.
