On a writing forum I frequent, a member shared how she did vision boards each year. I originally read the thread during the early part of the year. It sounded cool and fun. A creative endeavor right up my alley. I never went down that alley until now.
Since I’ve been re-assessing what I want to accomplish, I’ve been looking at ways to help me reach my goals. So revisited the thread about vision boards. I started collecting magazines and mulling over my goals for 2015 and beyond. I also thought about who I wanted to be and how I wanted to live.
I did the board over several days. First I cut out images and words from magazines. Then I decided to head to Pinterest for pictures. I also grabbed some kid books that were damaged.
I grabbed my poster board and supplies. (The water like stain on the board is from The Great Wine Explosion from a couple years back. A 5-gallon bottle of wine broke, splashing wine everywhere.)
Here’s the finished board:
Oh. On the back of the board, I glued some SMART goals I wanted to hit in 2015.
I’m going to hang it in my closet so I can see it everyday, several times a day. In previous years, I kept my goals in a notebook, on key ring and in spreadsheets. I’d keep up with them for a little while, then I’d drift away from them. I really think this will help me keep my goals and the feelings associated with accomplishing them in the forefront of my mind.
Have you ever made a vision board? What was your experience with it?
