When I was a kid Thanksgiving meant my brother and I would be able to stuff ourselves with our mom’s cornbread dressing and macaroni and cheese.
The holiday also meant we got a four day weekend from school. My brother and I would stay up as late as we could watching tv and hanging out.
I was my mom’s main shopping buddy any day, but the day after Thanksgiving. Getting up super early to hit the stores didn’t bother me. I could always nap in the car or nap when I got home. Dealing the bargaining hunting crowds was no big deal. I was veteran shopper and had been trained well.
I had two reasons for staying home on Black Friday.
This Thanksgiving, my mom is visiting so I get to have her dressing and macaroni and cheese (can’t wait). I’m going to call my brother to wish him and his family a Happy Turkey Day and then brag a little while holding a plate full of dressing and mac and cheese.
What’s one of your favorite Thanksgiving memories?
